Buddy Belts Saved My Pugs Necks!

The Buddy Belt dog harness is the most humane dog harness out there...and now I believe it! It saved Porky & Brownie's necks. Both boys pull really hard on their harnesses and Porky in particular was having a hard time. He sometimes pukes and chokes on his own breath. Poor little guy's trachea was damaged and I was starting to looking into potential surgery and other options. Since we started using the Buddy Belt dog harness for both boys about two years ago, they no longer choke nonstop during walks and are now able to enjoy their walks. Yeah! Thanks Buddy Belts!

This sago palm found all over Houston, Texas as well as other hot, humid climates, is killing dogs by destroying their liver function! Please read this and spread the news. This article on Click2Houston.com also lists other common plants that can kill dogs. Please check your front and back yards to make sure you don't have any of the dog killing plants, and be extra careful and alert for deadly plants where ever Puggy maybe.

We just watched Cats & Dogs and it's so cute! Although it makes you think twice about cats. In the movie, there's a secret war between the Cats & Dogs that we humans are too clueless to notice. The eternal battle between Jeff Goldblum plays a human scientist working on a vaccine to eliminate dog allergies. It's the job of the Dogs to protect this lab (secret lab at Goldblum's home) and the vaccine from the Cats, who also want to get a hold of this new vaccine and destroy it. Tobey McGuire is the voice of the new puppy who accidentally gets mistaken for secret agent and now has to protect the vaccine and prevent the Cats from getting their hands on it. A few other secret agent dogs in the neighborhood help him by watching over him and teaching him the ropes. A fun, loveable family movie. Loved it!

Lazy Quite Sunday

Another chill Sunday at home. Porky and Brownie got their dental chews and as usual, Brown found a comfy area far from Pork to devour his treat. Most of the time, Brown runs upstairs and lounges on the sofa in the entertainment room so Pork can't steal his treats. Maybe with Mom around, Brown feels like it's safe for him to enjoy his treat close to Pork. Happy Sunday!

(Brownie keeps looking at me and then looking at Pork. I guess he is not sure if it's safe yet to devour his treat.)

"I wonder if I can get away with hiding my treat and then stealing Brown's...but Mom is right there...hhhmmmm..." (Pork)

As we all know, Pork LOVES food and treaties...and napping. Brownie is not much of a foodie but a toy-ee. He LOVES toys. Obsessed is more like it...sleeps with mouth over toy (Pork does this to his chew bones), drags the toys all around the house (yes, drags that 4 feet snake up and down the stairs), and falls asleep on them (I think this is to prevent Porky from stealing his toys). Well, sibling rivalry and the fight to be alpha dog is causing the boys to fight for toys now. Pork just wants to take it away from Brown...he doesn't even like toys that much...here it goes...

Late Night Black & White Show with Porky Pug & Brownie Pug

"Why are you trying to take my toy? I already give you my food and treaties...arf" (Brownie)

"Fine! Be that way! I will fight you to the end! How rude!" (Brownie)

"Wow...the kids getting stronger everyday...I gotta show him who's the boss! Come on kid, bring it on!" (Porky)

"I can crush you with one paw! Woof Woof!" (Porky)

"You think you can push me around just because you are older? I am not going to get pushed around by you for the rest of my life...and besides, I am acrobatic, fast, agile, and I can kick your fat butt!" (Brownie)

"This kid is dragging me all around our bedroom and I am practically napping here. Is he for real or just clueless? What's with the military warfare and downward dog? You can drag me around all you want but you can't take Ms. Lamb here...woof woof...eerrr. Go play with the Monkey." (Porky)

"I'm getting tired of being dragged around...nap time. Here kid...take Ms. Lamb. I never cared for her anyways." (Porky)

"Hah! You can't bully me. Don't you dare come back and try to get your hands on my toys. I am ready for you..." (Brownie)

"Brownie still has a lot to learn. I just wanted to show him I can kick his butt in my sleep or in this case, laying on the ground. Aside from Dad, nobody tells me what to do...well not nobody, if you have treaties, anything is possible. I can sit, heel, catch, bow, lay down, look cute, model, perform guard duties, clean up trash, ...I'm your Pug...as long as I get my treaties." (Porky)

Pork LOVES food, with a passion. Without supervision and diet restrictions, he will eat and eat until he pukes and eat his own puke...that is how crazy he is (we try very hard to limit his processed treaties and stick with fresh fruits and soy yogurt). Every day during meal and snack time, this is what happens...needless to say Porky wants all the food and treaties to himself!

...uummm...this could be why Brownie scarfs down his food in like 1 minute while Pork takes 15 minutes finish!

I was inspired to take bathtime pictures after I saw Flatnosedpups's super adorable trio. We don't have trio but certainly dynamic duo! Hehehe

It's so warm and comfy in here...smells good...Mom usually takes bath without us and we always want to join...but how come it's just us and Mom & Dad are outside?
I don't like not having control...why can't I stant right? Keep slipping and losing my grip...
Why is Dad outside with that thing that keeps flashing? I am trying to enjoy my bath!
How come Mom keeps washing Pork and giving him belly rubs! Where's mine Mom?!
Am I suppose to stare at you and stand? Or should I sit? Ummm...

Join us at Houston Pug Rescue, PugHearts', PugNic 2007

I wanted to let you guys know we are super excited to get involved with Houston's very own Pug rescue, PugHearts. Helping Puggies always reminds me of how fortunate my life has been, after I was touched and owned by Pugs. I mean what would life be like without Pugs? No more poo to clean, chewed up cabinet corners, echoing snores and snorts, pee on my furniture, dog hair everywhere,...it's been an enduring ride and I would not have it any other way! So let's get out there and get involved!

I always like to think of it this way, what if something unfortunate happened to me and I could no longer care for my Puggies? The thought of that brings tears to my eyes as these little guys just want to give lots of love and please us. Let's face it, Pugs are not famous for street smarts and any kind of survival. With no one helping homeless and abandoned Puggies (and may I say shame on those people that did not do their homework first before taking on the responsibility of a pet and then later "changed" their minds), they would be put to sleep. =(::::

Well, now there are no excuses! The great people at Pug Hearts have worked very hard to bring to us our very own Houston Pug Rescue. So let's get there to the PugNic on March 4th to the Challenger 7 Memorial Park, Webster, Houston! Looking forward to meeting everyone. Porky and Brownie will be dressing their best for this Pug Nic!

This month's pug meetup was so much fun...lots of puggies showed up dressed up in their best and looking fabulous! Now we included some teasers below but spend some time looking at all the uploaded pictures on FLICKR. Since there were 100+ pictures taken, most of the non-pug pictures were not included since let's face it, this is for pug lovers! Hehehe...all dogs are cute but pugs are the best!

This is Hank (the tank) Pug. We just met Hank and he is like Pork's long lost brother...have same physical attribute (body and tail), and same temperment and personality (extremely outgoing, likes to play rough, and a always a bad ass!). Hank LOVES to swim! He took quite a few dips...unfortunately some crazy dog park staff decided to dye the pond water red...for Valentines Days?!

So comfy...we hang out here all day! We snack, nap, and play on the sofa...the feather down is soooooo soft.
We hang out whereever we want which these days is on our new sofa...we like to drag all our toys everywhere in the house and then get food on the sofa...so nice not to have to be primitive and lay on the floor!

I know every pug momma probably feels that their little puggy is the cutest big eye treat and toy beggar...but I really think Brownie is the cutest one of all! His eyes are so big they sometimes look like they want to pop out when he is not feeling well. He's like a pug cabbage patch kid baby. My sweet Browner...Porky is cute, too, but definitely the big macho dog and leader of our house. Going to the pug meetup and going on pug playdates have become a favorite activity in our house. Here is the boys getting some water after they ran around the dog park at last month's pug meetup. Fellow Houston Pug meetup puggers, sorry it took so long to get the pictures...we all got lazy around the holidays and pug'd out!

Sweet Senior Pug from December Pug Meetup

There is something profoundly addictive and captivating about the pug...I think fellow humans owned by pugs can agree...we are all obsessed with these little guys! Watching Porky and Brownie sleep, especially when they are by my foot when I am working, and seeing pictures like this of a beautiful senior pug, reminds me of how I came to love pugs and how they have changed my life. You can see the 4' snake I talked about on my post on Nov 28. It wraps all the way around the large dog bed we have...so big and long...it's really more like a gigantic serpant...
Brownie snoozing on his favorite pillow...a little sheep. We get him lots of cudly sheeps...they are nice toys and pillows. Definitely getting some beauty sleep here and dreaming about more toys and fruits! Watcha looking at? Don't stare. I need my pug beauty rest and then I am going to take all the toys away from Brownie when I feel like waking up.

Since Blogger is no longer beta and we really wanted to try the new blogger features, we switched over. We decided if we have to start from scratch again, we chose a color that would make the pictures look better (I think at least). Ummm...I will need to learn more about further customizations and design later...may need some tips from Flat Nose Pups!

We have been busy with the holidays and preparing for visits from out of towners. Since we just moved into our new home a few months ago from a much smaller house, we have no furniture to fill our house. It's been fun weekends attacking the furniture stores and staring at blank walls for inspiration on decor. It's not easy shopping for furniture when you have two crazy pugs running around like...pugs (aka wild animals). *~~* Since we have been behind on the holiday shopping, we got some toys for the boys to hold them over until the new bed. You can also see here that our living room has no furniture, with one rug. But the boys love it because they can run around like crazy and attack each other.

Since we got tagged, we have been giving some thought so here we go...

3 Things I want:

PORKY
1) my own cook
2) hard white bone chew with filled treats (unlimited)
3) live with Grandma since she gives me all kinds of treats everyday...did I mention I gained near 10 lbs living with her for 6 months?!
4) to be the only dog...I hate sharing food and treats with Brownie
5) freedom to dig in all trash cans in the house
6) someone cleaning my toilet non-stop (I like a clean toilet when I go)
...wait a minute...I went beyond 3...there are too many things I want... *sigh*

How time flies when you are owned by pugs!

It's been another great year of new adventures with my two crazy pugs. I can't believe how time flies and Porky now has a very well establish grey/white mustache. He is such a handsome puggy...ages very well just like George Clooney! :)

This picture was taken last Christmas. The grandparents gave Porky and Brownie each a gingerbread bear toy, blue for Porky and brown for Brownie. Porky misses his Grandma, who he had the great pleasure of staying with for 6 months and returned home with an additional 8lbs (yikes!)...unfortunately, Brownie was not welcomed there as he is challenged in potty training and too hyper for the Grandparents. Our lives have been crazy, fun, busy, frustrating at times, stressful, sad, happy, and...our puggies, Pork & Brown, have brought us joy and laughter...and then some!

I am excited to surprise them with their new bed for Christmas. :)

Holiday gifts for Pork and Brown

I have thought long and hard about what to give the boys. I realize they get treats and toys all the time but have not gotten a new bed in a while. They share a huge circular pillow bed which has holes all over it thanks to Brownie, who thinks he is a pug cat and loves to scratch at things. I am now deciding on whether I should get them one big bed again, or get them two smaller beds of their very own. It's tricky because whenever there are two of anything, they like to pee on it and mark their territory, especially with beds (this happened so many times with their old beds, we stopped buying beds). I am lookiing at this AY Rover custom made plush dog bed with handsewn initials. It comes in different colors, is hypoallergenic, easy to take off cover and wash, has lining inside to prevent pee from penetrating inner cushions, and has a simple modern design. If we decide to get one big bed, then we will have to choose which one to get. I like the Capri, the Sniffany & Co. bed, Skull Red Plaid Lilybeds, and the Phoebe Mission Style Dog Bed. Which one do you guys think is a better idea? Individual beds or shared beds? Would they be happier just sharing and cuddling in one bed?

Just got back from Vancouver, Canada with 4" Snake!

When I went to visit Vancouver, Canada this last weekend, I totally missed my two puggers. Especially when we visited Whistler (skiing, hiking, mountain, lake)and saw lots of paw prints on the snow when we were hiking. So cute! On our way back, I got the boys a 4' plush snake toy. It was so cute when I brought it home. Brownie (LOVE LOVE LOVE toys) tried to put his mounth over the head, chewed the tongue, while Pork tugged at the tail. They were battling it out and then Pork got tired and fell asleep on and over the tail of the snake body while Brown continued to nibble the mouth and head, doing his signature falling asleep over plush toy pose. Although the cutest is when Brown (who is small and compact pug of 14" inch length and 17 lbs)drags the big long snake all over the house, he even dragged it over Pork's body and played with it while Pork was resting and getting ready to sleep (they share the same bed).

It's been a little busy so have not had a chance to take piictures, but hope to get some pictures of the boys with their new snake soon!

As usual, another great day the the pug meetup. Since we moved from LA to Houston, we have missed our pug parties, socials, and rescue adventures...and the huge Pugtober Fest. Our pug meetup is all we have here in Houston. If anyone knows of any active Houston Pug rescues or activities, please let us know! Porky and Brownie really enjoyed it when did Little Angels Pug Rescue in Los Angeles. Porky even got to meet celebrities because he was so cute! We hope to get involved in Houston puggie activities. I hope everyone will enjoy the pictures as much as I did taking them! I had tons of photos, and it was hard to choose which ones to post. See you everyone at the next pug meetup. Why do pugs like to fall asleep on the sofa cracks or on top of back pillows?

Poo and Pee at Pug Meetup Today...has your pug done this?

We have tons of cute picutres I have to go through and resize to share. So cute! I brought my big Nikon this time since last ime I use small digital camera and it was too slow. I wanted to post this one since I am wondering why Brownie is pooing and peeing at the same time (notice in this picture, he is lifting and peeing but also pooing). This is the first time I noticed. Does anyone else's pug do this? This is so strange to me since I have had pugs for a long time and never seen it before. It's usually one or the either. Weird...

Why does Brown like to put his mouth over his toy and fall asleep?

A while back I had mention how cute it is when Brownie sleeps. He absolutely loves to put his mouth over his favorite toys and then slowly falls asleep...his eyes droops slowly and he can't stand it anymore but to close them and then he will open them again to lick his toy, chew it a little, and then back to quick nap. This is his favorite toy in the world. It's a horse in the shape of a snake. He loves his snake, turtle, and octapus which all have squeaker and tons of legs for him to easier drag all around the house, even on to Mom & Dad's bed! It is hard to describe so I added some animated pictures. Is this a pug thing or a dog thing? Brownie is crazy for toys...but not that much for food like his brother Pork, is he a pug (what type of pug doesn't like to eat...uummm)?

We thought it was only fair Pork got a picture in here since he is the oldest and the one who won us over to pug domination...he doesn't get as much attention since he is very independent and does not like to be bothered. Hwe is well known for your patrolpug job. Brownie loves attention and being close to Mom 24/7. His job is to be lazy, naughty, and get lots of kisses!

Now Pork is snoozing and enjoying nap but alast...the camera has retired for the night. Enjoy!

New pictures of the fabulous bald pug!

Now that both Porky and Brownie are well again, we are back on track with posting to our blog and taking pictures. As you will see, we have not posted pictures in a while since Brownie has been bald and Porky has just been sick. Now, pictures are available! Please excuse the bald spot, he is healing from mange.

Still bald but has not gotten worse!

Brownie's balding has stopped but the hair he did loose has not grown back. I have been giving him Ivermectin for the last week and he had a flea collar on for a few days. I hope the bald spot goes away since he has beautiful wrinkles (if you see his picture on the right, he has show quality, per my pug books, wrinkles which you can not see anymore...sob sob). The only constant stress he has is punking around with his brother Porky but they do that all the time. I can't imagine that stressing him out to the point of having low immunity to mange attack. Hhmmm...I will do some further investigation and see...

Mange attack!

Brownie has mange on his forehead and has lost most of his hair on his wrinkled forehead (you can't see his beautiful wrinkles anymore). The Vet says dogs usually get this kind of mange from their mothers when they are young puppies and does not happen to adult pugs unless if they are stressed or have low immune system. I noticed a slight pink spot two weeks ago but did not think much about it. I have been out of town for a week and left the boys at a pet hotel. Perhaps the stress of being away from me made the mange fully breakout. Poor Brownie! :(

He looks so fragile with his bald pink head...my poor Browner...he is currently laying down next to me with his mouth over his favorite brown horse snake plush toy, eyes closed, and occassionally getting up to look around and bite his toy. So cute even when sick.

Has anyone's adult pug have mange before?

We found out that Porky was sick because he was sneaking food from the trash and eating the foam cups from the trash! Now all trash is on high alert and off limits! When we have no time to hawk over them, they stay in their crates. The family is together 24 hours a day since they come with me to work everyday. Usually no one in the office pays attention to them because we are all working and they have freedom to roam around, which I am guessing Porky digged in the kitchen trash and ate something.

Thank you everyone for your concern. Now that Pork is feeling better, we will be posting more pictures soon. I hope everyone gets their Halloween costumes on and have a show down on best pug costumes...who can resist, they all look so cute!!!!!!!!!

Poor Porky! He is sick!

Have not had a chance to add new posts since my little Porky has been sick. He has been vomiting a lot. We suspect it's the food but him and Brownie eat all the same things and never had problems before. We are going to get to the root of the problem (I hope) tomorrow when we go to the Vet. He still loves to eat...

I was also wondering if the vomiting could be caused by him eating his own poo, which happened twice recently. Since I started hacking at him, the poo eating has stopped. We are looking at new brand of dog food after some folks suggested it may be related to lack of nutruition in current food. Keep your fingers cross for little Porka!

Brownie is still himself, not a care in the world. I caught him eating Pork's vomit! Yuukkkee! But he is fine. Brownie (being a very small, skinny pug) rarely pukes or has any stomach problems. Oh, and he never gains weight! What's up with that?

We finally decided on the costumes and wanted to show them off!

We had a hard time choosing the Halloween Costumes for the puggies but then we decided to choose the costumes most fitting for their personalities, Pork is very Piggy and Brown likes to chill and lounge like a Cow. large crowded sofa...leaving space for Mom or Dad?

It's been busy at work lately so we have been working quite a lot at home. Our house is about 4300 sqft with each and every room filled with sofas and cushions for them to louge wherever they please. They don't like laying on the floor unless if they have to but they certainly must always be attached to Mom or Dad at the hip (or foot I should say). I chose to work upstairs in the game room where we have a rocker chair, sofa, tv, and round game table. I work on the game table and they usually lounge on the sofa. They are funny because they each have their favorites (Pork is a Daddy's boy and Brown is a Momma's boy) but no matter who it is, they fight (with paw and kisses) for attention to be the favored one. We moved our old sofa into the office where they enjoy lounging with Dad when he is working. Although all the sofas are big, they love to snuggle together on top of the highest pillow! There are about 4-6 pillows on each sofa. They drag and stack, then lounge together (more like claiming who has better territory on the pillows) on the top. And of course, perfect view of all Mom's actions. I have to bring my camera home to take a picture to better show the little puggies ruling the sofa. Or are they leaving space for Mom and Dad? Hmmm...

Lately, I have been trying to get Porky to lose weight. I previously thought that all pugs inhaled their food and were a little pork belly dogs. Pork LOVES food. He is crazy! He loves to dig in the trash and sit for hours waiting for treats. Meanwhile, Brownie just loves toys, especially the long snakes, horses, octapus, or any snake shape plush toy. He is silly and enjoys playing with his toys and napping. He doesn't really care for food as much (now don't get me wrong, he likes treats and loves fruits just as much as any other pug...he just won't try to steal food off the table or dig in the trash). Brownie eats the same, if not more, than Porky but is 10 lbs. lighter! Porky eats very slow and enjoys every morsel of food while Brownie inhales the food. This is just not fair for poor Pork who is now on a diet (kinda...)!

On another note, the dogs greatly enjoy a variety of fruits for dinner now (as I mentioned in my earlier post the boys only eat dog food for breakfast and some treats throughout the day). They love all fruits but have obsession with watermelon and apples. I sometimes add some soy yogurt (which I hate but they love) to their fruits. Did I mention that their stools and breath smell a thousand times better with this new "diet" plan! The added energy and weight loss was an extra perk!

Since Pork recently came home from his long visit to the grandparents, he has slowly ease himself back into our pack. I am noticing though that both dogs love to pee on each other's beds. It got so bad, we are now thinking we should get rid of the beds all together. We have nested donut beds downstairs for them to lounge and sofas all over the house so they always have a comfy, soft place to stretch out, prop their pillows, and nap their puggy stress away. Since they sleep in bed with me at night, I figure their nested beds may need to go. They have lifted there countless times. But the funny thing is, they don't do it anywhere else, except for their own nested beds!

I was playing around with some of our old photos by making quick collages (see above)for some fun holiday card ideas. We had a lot of fun with our friends whom we met through pug rescue volunteering. I got to thinking about the hurrican and the poor homeless, abandoned dogs (pugs in particular of course). If you are reading this and have made it here, you are probably a crazed and smitten pet parent. Please feel free to read my stories and comment on your experiences. I want to thank my good friends, Daiju and Cindy, and their girls, Rosie and Goldielocks, for the wonderufl pictures, sharing great pug memories at all the pug socials and rescue events, being there during the puppy years, and of course, for inspiring me to get a second pug! We miss the play dates and picnics at the Rose Bowl! Wow...it's been almost two years! I would suggest all pet parents and those who want to volunteer their time and want to get involved with helping animals, get active and volunteer your time to rescues and your local humane society. If you don't like getting dirty or are not cut out for volunteer work, make a donation! You will feel better for it and it's tax deductible.

Fun ways to share your puggies birthday pictures...

As I previously posted before, in the midst of numerous moves, there has been much delay in consolidating pictures from different cameras. Finally, I've got Porky's birthday pictures downloaded into my computer. I realized there are so many cute pictures and each image and memory was so precious. How can I share and not have to load tons of photos? Easy. We recently got the Photoshop Elements 4.0 and have been using it to add effects and create delightful graphic images to share with our friends. Putting this picture together took no time at all and now we have one picture which shows off every moment focused on our little Porky's birthday party! Yeah! Since I posted this back in June or July, I realized this is a perfect way to share and put together cute collages of photos! This is puglicious!

Pugs rule...more reasons why having a pet can save your sanity!

Brownie has turned one! I have attached a baby picture to show him when he was just 3-4lbs, coming home with me and a current picture. He is a big boy now. I never use to put a leash on him because he is such a Momma's boy but these days without his brother here...he has become more indepedent and caught a case of what I call the "only dog syndrome". We understand each other so well. It's absolutely adorable. Oftentimes, he does not each or drink or go potty unless if I am there with him. He looks back to made sure I am still there and observing my body language to ensure I was in no hurry to leave him. When I do leave him, he sits and stares at the door, patiently awaiting my return. I am always careful of where I walk as he will always sure enough be right next to my heel and slightly ahead of me.

In the office, we have come to refer to him officially as our "Security Guard" since he gazes out the small narrow opening in the window most of the day, alert to growl and bark when there is any sign of intruder or movements outside our office. Like a large number of office employees, he tends to enjoy napping and walking around the office socializing, trying to find someone to mutually entertain each other.

These days we have been working long hours. That means Brown has to pull the night shift. He is restless and slightly bored since we are all too busy to play with him. As I make my calls, type away on my laptop, he is quiety playing with his toys near my feet. Sometimes he paws my legs for me to pat him and give him some attention. Whenever I take a break, he is so excited for us to have a moment together.

He never doutbs me (except when he knows I will leave him alone and he doesn't fall for my tricks to get him into the backyard) and I always trust him. I guess this is why the dog is commonly referred to as man's best friend. You ever notice when you come home from a bad day and then the moment you come home, your dog is waiting for you patiently by the door and eagered to be with you, suddenly the outside world worries are slowly left behind as you look into your dog's glistening eyes full of pure selfless love.

My little baby Porky just came home from a long visit to the Grandparents and have gained a whopping 10lbs...omg!!!

I almost past out because I was shocked by how big he got...I didn't know it was possible for the little pug dog to get so big. Now Porky is 28 lbs.!!! His brother Brownie is only 17 lbs...a big huge difference. Well, Brownie went on a diet a while back and lost 6 lbs.! Asside from streamlining his meals into one morning breakfast, adding more fruits and vegetables to dinner, and only small amounts of treats throughout the day, we give lots of water and many walks around the warehouse and the house. After they eat their meals, they tend to lounge and nap. With only one meal a day, they usually are more active and when they do nap, it's not always on a full stomach. We don't feel guilty about giving treats since it's usually fruits or veggies, or other healthy treaties to reward them for being just them!

Brownie is now the perfect weight and more active than ever. Porky has been on a diet now for two days and is showing promise. We weighed him today at 28 lbs. We are aiming to get the weight under 20 lbs. To start the diet and motivate both of us, I sent him to the groomers to get a 10" blade shave and he now looks 5 lbs. lighter! Shaving our two pugs has been the best thing we ever done since we got the dogs. No more dog hair everywhere...especially in the car, on the furniture, and on the bed. It certainly makes sharing the same bed with the two puggies more sanitary and acceptable. We can't seem to kick them off and eventually gave up. The other option was to crate them during the night next to our bed, but we like giving them freedom. They now enjoy freedom and we enjoy hairless house and bed!

We recently noticed Brownie's deep obsession with playing with his tennis balls. He has small and medium size balls which we play fetch with. He can paw at the ball and try forever to get his mouth around the medium size one evern though it doesn't fit. He is just so silly! His all time obsession is plush long toys in shapes of snakes, long horses, octapus, or anything similar. We have bought everything we have seen. If anyone has anything interesting plush toys to share, please let us know! Brownie loves them!

Pillows and Blankies Are an Order!

We recently moved our "L" shape couch to the office since we planned on getting a new sofa. Now each time we move from one room to another, Brownie follows briskly close behind. As soon as he gets into the new room, he jumps on to the couch, then finds a comfy pillow or blanket, and stretches into a lounge position. He naps until we move again. Our new home has many rooms but has a very open design so Brownie is always able to see us, even if he is in another room. He doesn't like to lay or nap on tile, carpet, or wood flooring. He prefers pillow, blankets, and will occassionally settle for just the sofa with no pillow. He is currently sleeping on the sofa with a pillow and wrap in a super soft chenille blanky. Good night Brownie!

More watermelon please!

It's a known fact that all pugs love to eat, eat, and eat some more. Then nap of course. Our Brownie loves fruits, especially watermelon. We usually cut the watermelon in half and eat it with a spoon while watching TV. Brownie loves to stick his head on top of the watermelon and attack each spoonful. I have never seen him move his head so fast! Meanwhile, when he does get a piece, he relaxes and lounges on a pillow or the couch, then devours his treat. He also enjoys watching "Dog Whisperer". He soemtimes thinks the dogs are barking at him and he gets really excited.

I have now reduced dog treats and increased more all natural treats consisting of some soy yogurt, watermelon, apple, peaches, and salad. I found this has reduced the odor from his stools as well as help him trim down. As with all other pugs, our Porky and Brownie are both overweight. Brown is now at a healthy weight and much more active. We have also noticed he eats more since we started switching off his food every month or so. We realized it's hard to eat the same thing everyday so we try to change it up so he doesn't get bored.

Labor Day Weekend

We are excited to visit San Diego this Labor Day Weekend. San Diego has the best dog beach ever! Ocean Beach, widely known and referred to as the "Disneyland for dogs", it's our puggies favorite place to hang out and meet new friends. There is a section of the beach dedicated to dogs! Pork is coming home to Houston and reuniting with his brother, Brownie, after nearly six months of separation. We are very excited to finally bring him back home after his vacation and stay with the grandparents in San Diego. Although Pork may have enjoyed his visit since he gets overpampered by Grandma, he tends to have a little weight problem after each visit. Back to weight management diet for him. :(

あなたは犬を靴を身に着けるべきである考えるか .I was wondering how you, pet parents, feel about dogs wearing shoes? We have never put shoes on our dogs before but they were so cute we could not resist. We at first thought the idea of unheard of but later changed our minds as we got more use to the idea. It helps to try it on for a few minutes while supervised by parents everyday for a while before they get use to it and stop trying to chew it off. It's just like humans, breaking in a new pair of shoes is not fun! We wear shoes to protect our feet. I suppose if we did not wear shoes, our feet would be different, too. Shoes protect the dogs paws as well as look fashionable so why not? Just make sure it's the right size as the wrong size may cut off circulation. I found this article that basically read to me like why not shoes for the city dogs, too?

My Porka...Miss You Lots!

Life is not the same without my Porky here. He has been missed. I can't wait till he comes back home from Grandma and Grandpa's place in San Diego. They sure do grow fast. Thinking back, he was only 3 lbs. when he came into my life (Left second and third photo - see his baby pictures from his first week with us). His first toy was a Bamboo star (indestructible and larger than life for him) and after many months, he finally was able to grow bigger than the star and kill it. Then he grew and grew (he loves food and treats) into a very over weight 25 lbs. of pug love. We miss our pug friends (Left top photo - Rosie, Goldielocks, and Porky) and the fun outings. We welcome new Houston puggies to be our friends and do pug outings and go to dog parks.
